Fennel is scientifically known as Foeniculum vulgare Miller .
Fennel seeds come from a Mediterranean plant, related to parsley, dill and anise. It is suitable in stews and legume stews, since it facilitates the expulsion of gases. Fennel stands out for its ability to balance the functions of the digestive system. Due to its mild action and its pleasant taste, it is especially indicated to administer to children and babies with intestinal discomfort, cramps, colic, windiness or to increase their appetite. It is also a mild laxative that can be used in both adults and children.
If you usually have cystitis problems or even difficulties urinating, combine 3 tablespoons of fennel, 1 handful of star anise and a handful of horsetail, dandelion and lemon balm (about 15 grams). Bring the mixture to a boil for about 5 minutes and add two tablespoons of the mixture for every half liter of water and let it rest for 10 minutes, before straining it.
